Golfing on the Crystal Coast
The Crystal Coast has more ways to play than most people expect. Several public and semi-private golf courses are spread across Carteret County, with layouts that wind through coastal pines and marshland — flat enough for a relaxed round but interesting enough to keep you honest.
Public Golf Courses
Star Hill Golf Club in Cape Carteret is the area's most established public course, with 27 holes across three nine-hole layouts: the Lakes, the Pines, and the Oaks. Each plays differently, and the combination keeps regulars coming back. Brandywine Bay Golf Club in Morehead City offers a well-maintained 18-hole course with water features and tree-lined fairways. Both courses welcome walk-ons when tee times allow.
Disc Golf
Disc golf has taken off on the Crystal Coast. Fort Macon State Park and several county parks have laid out free courses through the trees and open fields. It's a great option for families or anyone who wants to be outside without the greens fees.
Putt-Putt & Mini Golf
For a casual evening out, mini golf courses along the Bogue Banks strip are a Crystal Coast tradition. Several spots near Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle keep the kids busy after a day at the beach, and more than a few adults take the competition seriously.
